Our board have a diverse range of skills, which support them to oversee the strategic direction of the organisation. The board meets five times a year, with four board meetings and the AGM, which is held in September each year.

We have one board sub-committee, the Housing Operations Committee (HOC), which is comprises three board members and five residents. The committee meets every three months, to review operational performance, review policies and community engagement events.

Alistair Auty

Alistair Auty became chair of the board in September 2021. Alistair is passionate about affordable housing and has several years’ experience of being a non-executive board member at a local authority development company as well as larger and small independent housing associations.

Michael Payton

Michael Payton has been a board member for three years and is also our vice chair. Michael is a chartered surveyor with an interest in sustainability; he works for the Greater London Authority (GLA) as senior area manager.

Annette Dunningham

Annette Dunningham is a resident of Sutton Housing Society. Annette has many years’ experience working within asset management in the affordable housing sector.

Lisa Rae

Lisa Rae has been a company secretary and is an experienced practitioner of governance within the charity sector. Lisa is also the chair of the Peabody Group resident services council.

Matthew Corbett

Matt Corbett has been a board member for five years; he is an experienced housing sector professional and is the director for L&Q’s social charity arm, the L&Q Foundation.

Pamela Norton

Pam Norton previously worked at the London Borough of Sutton within their social services team. Pam is the chair of our Housing Operations Committee (HOC). Pam received an OBE for her services to the social services sector.

Barbara Bransgrove

Barbara has a strong link with Sutton Housing Society and fondly remembers her father, Frank Griffiths, setting up the organisation from his spare bedroom in 1964.

Now retired after a career in corporate finance, Barbara is an active member of her local community, and supporter of local charities. She has followed our growth and success, which she hopes to continue as a board member.

Chris Hunter-Taylor

Chris Hunter-Taylor works as an in-house recruiter for Currie & Brown, a world leading cost / project management consultancy. Prior to joining them he ran his own niche recruitment consultancy, which he set up 11+ years ago. He has a degree in economics and finance. He is the director of the Forum for the Built Environment, one of the UKs leading networking groups focused on the construction and infrastructure sectors.

He is also advisor to the Saltdean Lido CIC, which was established to safeguard and provide a sustainable future to the Grade II* listed art deco lido.

Adrian Simpson

Adrian Simpson is a retired finance specialist, with a background in national and international finance, which is supported by a detailed knowledge of funding. His career has seen him work in finance within the private sector, before moving into central government. He lives locally, is passionate about older people’s housing and supports the value small providers can bring to the benefit of the local community.

Robin Roberts BA (Hons), DipArch (Hons), FRIBA FRICS

Chief Executive

Robin has worked within the affordable housing sector for over 25 years, the last eight+ years as Chief Executive of Sutton Housing Society. He is a qualified architect and chartered surveyor, as well as uniquely being a fellow of both the RIBA and RICS. Robin has been an award-winning construction client, which included creating the multi-award-winning Relish™ retrofit research that was included as a Sustania100 project. He is an experienced non-executive director and Board Chair. He is Chair of the RIBA fellowship panel.

Glynis Gatenby PG DIP CERT, CIHM

Operations Director

Glynis has worked in social housing for 40 years – at a senior level for both local authorities and housing associations. Glynis joined Sutton Housing Society in 2016 and is responsible for overseeing the teams that provide the operational landlord services to residents. Glynis also leads on employee training across the organisation, as well as policy development and regulatory compliance.

Michelle Easton

Finance Director

Michelle has been part of Sutton Housing Society for 12 years. In 2020, she was appointed to the newly created role of Management Accountant and in 2026 she was appointed Finance Director. Michelle is currently responsible for the finance function, which includes management and statutory accounts, external audit, loan portfolio and treasury management; she is also responsible for the organisation’s ICT and related strategy.
