If you want to move, there are a couple of things below to consider before we can proceed:
- You must have lived in your current home for one year or more should you be applying to transfer internally or do a mutual exchange. There should be no breaches of your current tenancy agreement.
- If you are moving to another landlord or have found your own alternative accommodation you should contact your Housing Manager to discuss serving your formal notice to quit to end your tenancy in accordance with the tenancy agreement.
- Your rent payments must be up to date leaving no outstanding rent account charges at the end of the tenancy.
- Should you want to apply for a transfer we can suggest an appointment to visit and discuss your needs, including the areas you want to move to. Further information about transferring to a new home is available in our Lettings Policy.
For all our other residents you can swap your home by doing a mutual exchange. This must be with another council or housing association tenant.
Sutton Housing Society offers free subscription to the national HomeSwapper mutual exchange website.
If you find someone to swap homes with, please let us know and we can explain the next steps. You can find more information in our Mutual Exchange Policy.
